Anaerobic digesters produce energy from vegetable, as well as animal, waste. Breweries, wineries and food retailers are just a few of the industries that are taking excess waste and turning it into energy. In the process, they are lowering disposal costs and generating income or savings through the generation of clean biogas.
Since many cities charge a fee for manufacturing companies who create waste water, some breweries and wineries are putting the money they would have had to pay the city in fees towards an anaerobic digestion systems that not only treat the water but can also generate renewable energy and heat.
